3 June Hidden Forest, 8200 ft., Sheep Range, Clark Co., Nev.-
The first poor-wills were heard at about 8:45-9:00 p.m. -
it was almost dark - with nearly a full moon.
One flew over the canyon above the pine tops -
& called as it did - suddenly it swooped down to
me an lit 5-6 ft. in front of me on open hillside -
flew in 1 minute. At 9:15 one was calling on hill E.
of camp. Calls at rate of 1 per 3-5 sec., called for 5 minutes.
