Hidden Forest, 7,900 ft., Sheep Range, Clark Co., Nev.
Out at 8:30 a.m. - not as cool as other mornings. Clear shot a junco 150 yds below cabin near big log across canyon. Went on canyon to pinyon-juniper belt - roughly 2 mi below camp. Shot a & Hairy woodpecker in a dead pine - was calling - later, a ? was flying about canyon calling loudly. Six Violet-green swallows flying down canyon. Again tried the squab spread but hit & got many chisadoes, resulting Vireos & few nutlatches & bl- thr spy warbler. Shot a [illegible] from the lot. Got a chipmunk.
Saw singing house wren, only of an Audubon Warblers - in the thicket of aspen where I shot the Palaces Warblers - another of this species and a Harris Thrush. Singing Quailateches, fairly abundant in the Rabbit Brush flats. 2 V-g Swallows flying high over cliffs & entering a cave - on the south side of canyon. 2 White throated Swifts
On way back got one of 2 juncos in gang fins.
A warm day - 59°F at noon.
Canyon Wrens seem fairly abundant, tho not always as prominent to voice
