Christman, B.W. 1962 Journal 21 June Lemington Creek to Strawberry Cr., Snake Range, White Pine Co., Nev. We packed up the truck early & went to Harrison & Baker for supplies. In Baker we saw: House Sparrows and flying over tannu Basin Grouse, W. Ringlets, Sparrow Danks & a niger hawkla. Had lunch & head up into Strawberry Cr. area. This region is off the topo sheets. We inquired at the U.S.F.S. office & could find no adequate map to determine elevation or the roads into the highcountry. We tries several roads but decided to camp by a noisy fast stream in an open - fir thicket -- an ellddeer hunting camp with a table. The canyon is a E-W one. The lower hills & flats to the N are covered with Artemisia, cercocarpus thickets, pinyons & juniper. NE of camp & N of the stream is an extensive flat of sage with some wet spots. A canal takes off near camp & goes W across the flat. Ward says this is or was, the water supply to Osada. The slope hill to our S. (N facing) has extensive Sage areas & forests which are 60-75% open with white & douglas fir making up most of the remainder. We do not know the elevation here. But, the dandylions here have gone to seed where as at the other camp they were in flowers. There are more flowers & grasses there -- and no signs of grazing. We heard & saw one Sagebi hunting in a shrub thig on a hill side (S) in afternoon. Made camp
