Destinon, D.M. 1962 Journal 18 June Lexington Creek, 9,300 ft., Snake Range, White Pine Co. Nevada western tanager - seen in almost every situation. Fringing & calling - usually seen as swipes, but have seen 3 & 4's. Mt. Eliskalce - most frequently encountered pi forest bird. Mostly often in small gramps, mark foliage closely - infrquently in aspen groves. I am surprised at the lack of birds in many of the forested areas I've been in. Birds are not abundant in the fir forests - but are in aspen. Woodpeckers are noteworthy for their absence. Few male green swallows a mile below camp - none up here. Heard few par-cills last night. Do and hunting this evening. Few swallows seen this high (at camp).
