Christman, R. M. 1962 Journal 15 June Leviston Creek, 8,300 ft., Smoke Range, Leviota Pine Co., Nevada Collected down canyon 3/4 mile. The house coren was with another & after I shot one the other fooled around a 2" hole 10' up in an aspen. Saw 3 tanagers shot one of all mine alone, & all in the pinyon. He graybird was singing in an aspen with chokeberry understory on gentle slope in canyon bottom - very upon situation. There are two species (d. thinb!) of Empidox in this canyon. A green-yellow job lives in the aspen-fir forests and make more noise. The gray ones are on the Artemisia slopes. Back in camp it started raining in the early afternoon & by early evening it was a light hake or snow (no flakes) - cold as hell - after the came of the mine came by we cleaned up & crep into the old school bus & warmed up slightly. 16 June we woke up with 2 or 3 inches of snow on the ground. Walked down canyon, but little activity. The sepsucker was collected in a large fir and was making a loud noise - the note was a loud "clack"
