Walter Stoll interview Red Bluff born '83 156 Journal The larger oaks have been cut and land too valuable - tenant recently. white oaks hill oaks better than valley oaks, better for heating, etc. in wally not burnt for management purposes - doubts if Indians burnt in valleys & hills - really doesn't know his father bought hides, esp. jerley esp. w. of tacum - more than hides shipped out a 1,000 hides a time to S.F. & back east for buckskin never any elk or antelope here. never a business, just ranchers & small operators has first 2 hunting licences issued 1908 & another They shipped out most of hides & came from most N. counties - no real idea but thought about 5,000 hides
