Christmas 1959 Journal 141 15 Mar. Trip to Grass Valley, Nevada Co., with the Kozals. (118) elev. 566 ft Bridgeport & a nice covered bridge - same p.p. up hill and it left up a hill & over Hung #20 - this is a good though narrow road. A few new ranch homes - more open country with cattle & horses - (120) S. Yr. v. Brush in tree farm here. - woodland with pine - Ceanothus in blossom - white flowers, also white-maryanita flowers - not in bloom in # 49 of Grassl. though few small spots out of Nevada City. On a ridge - open pasture & pine plantations. (128) into Hung #20 at Pear orchard, & on to Grass Valley & back to Sacramento. on Hung 40 - all the way we were in brushy - p.s.-oak or, as on the flats - calling oak plains - nearer in area Institute of Oak & Sacramento.
