Christensen 1959 Journal Thoughts 232(a) 29 Nov. perhaps I should define some terms: brush = stands of shrubs, usually continuous - Parkland = "oak-grassland", i.e. trees separated by - no continuous canopy cover - area under & between-trees is grass. mature parkland - grassy areas dominated by large oaks - usually of rounded form. woodland - dioecious trees (not conifers) in stands where the canopy cover is nearly continuous. - if trees are far apart there may be some elements of brush as an understory. I should have representative photographs of every type - physiognomy of vegetation
