Christman 215 Journal 27 Nov MethusLode Trip They could give me little information, except some of the later ones at Sanora & up about Grain Flat - gave me Sanara District, Stanislaus Nat'l. Forest map 1952, also stopped at the courthouse & talked to people in the museum. They referred me to Mrs. Ruth Ann Newport Tulomne Co. Agric. Commissioner * 9 North Washington Sonora, Calif. - who was not but could help me. She seems to be the local historian. 40.0 left Sanara on Hwy # 49 P. salicina, Q. kelloggii Cercocarpus & few grassy areas with minor bush (" ) 41.9 Turn off to Columbia 1/2 P. sal. after Panderosa, some Libocedrus with manzanita patches. on into Columbia where I photographed about town & in the Courtery Changed to a new roll of film. There are many cottonwoods, lombardi poplars, and willows about the area - they are particularly noticeable due to their bright coloration. N4 27-37 N5 3-6 44.7 Leaving Columbia - many old orchards - 46.3 onto * 49 Limestone everywhere .8 off to Shaws Flat - hardly a town 47.5 back on # 49 Concrete Co. a very rocky area
