Michigan Bar area - land cut up by dredging, etc.
207 into a low rolling woodland - river valley
208 cemetery, dredging & a wonderful old house
lots of cottonwoods
209 across a river; area of very large tamaracks
to W. a solitary pine (pandlissa ?) in an
open field [Cosumnes River]
210 onto upland area of rolling land & grass
hill ranchhouse - local Eucalyptus &
P. salin.
Y-4 magpie
Riparian area to S.W.
Lightning ahead & very dark (NW to N)
All of this is very rolling short grass
213 parkland, agric.- dairies; bottom land
Gambelons & cottonwoods
a levee?
Naplins - an extensive area
several figs & Lithocedrus in frontyards
Woodland - of large Salita and
some black walnuts
2 Slough house [Cosumnes River]
215 out of upon parkland,
Heavy rain & thunder-lightning which
continued on into Sacramento.
216 4:15 open rolling grassland. Cloud burst
a few lone locusts - all in bloom
Are facing a flat grassland with some
isolated Eucalyptus areas.
In this heavy rain the cattle face the storm
(SW) and slump up their backs between
their shoulders & ilium like C. Russel's 'Lost 95,000'
