Wristman 1959 Journal 183 2 Apr. Chico, Butte County, Calif. on Hwy #99E - 10:45 am South of town an area a tailings of dredge mining and a broad riparian growth. 56,742 Stone fence & black rocks. Riparian - lots of oaks to the east. Near rolling plain with rocks than everywhere - on either side of the road & riparian all the way around in distance. 45 Road to Paradise. Farmland with P. salviniana - a wine valley to East a canyon of low ridges (no more lava) well dissected & isolated covered with oaks and P. salviniana. This area is rolling grassy plain - pastland 2 mi. w? 47.3 Route road - 28' pleasants in short grass #49.0 turn off #99E to Oroville 50 small stream with riparian = willow & cotton- wood & afao oaks. Yellow hills magical. Quail The front of the foothills is almost with brush cleared in some areas leaving sharp edges near & grassy cover. 53 cattail, sedge marsh. white graven The lava bedding is very evident up to hill. 54 Road turns abruptly 5. Pine hills & lowland riparian. 57 55 Table Mountain Ranch photos hills of dense oak woodland 58 one hill & down into lush valley with citrus, oaks, cottonwoods especially numerous afao palms. 60.0 The Feather River & Oroville Pinus salviniana more alives & oaks.
