Shasta, Black Butte & Mt Eddy just S. of Mt. Shasta a short very green marganita collected. R23/8-11 401 up 99 from Mt Shasta - photos (Eckleb) of Black Butte & hill between it and the tower which has been burnt over. - Black Oaks on hill either dead or not yet in leaf. Collected some plants. The valley here is covered with brush with pines, fir & I. cedar in small patches. passed weed #99 23/12-16 412 Down a hill into a broad flat valley and Shasta River - just over the bridge at turnes 5. onto a secondary road plots of cow & Shasta a little further on a wooden fence - This is a valley extending up to btw 4,000' + passing Black Butte Jays, flickers & Crows 2:15 collected some frog eggs in road side pond one small frog seen couldn't catch - it was - Herdard & Angus cattle Remnants of an old stone fence stopped to photograph Mt.
