[are we in an area now where the valley type oaks can't grow - said ? 08.5 into a broad flat valley from the rolling hills 10. Anderson - many oaks in flats with brush recovery on cleared areas - 12. P. sabiniana from hills & the west and spew onto the flats as good sized thrifty trees 16.4 Clear Creek the brush-trees is denser and taller to the west on the hills 22.0 downtown Redding where there are some palm trees Drove the 6 miles w on Hwy # 299 toward Eureka to the Shasta Historical Monument - Excellent collection of material - artifact of the town, buildings present. General excellent old photos - vintage 1875, some perhaps earlier which have cheating. The superintendent was Busing with someone. spray. The composition percent wise appears not to have changed significantly - perhaps more brush in these days & few more pandora - but the pictures are very close to the current situation. This can be more closely examined - This area is on the edge of the pine belt well into the hills which rise to w. of Redding As far as I can see this entire region - below
