In a few Red-backs and a flock of Pectorals. Got back in time for lunch.
In the afternoon joined Steve ad Tom for a ride to the
Beach Bridge E. of the USC-GS Station ad started biking
NE ad the i a wide arc back to Nath Salt Lagoon.
ad back to the Beach Bridge which I followed out till about
halfway between Weaver & USC-GS, where I got a ride back
home with the group. The meadows N. of the Beach Bridge seems
good only for G.Plovers, each group of polygons & ridges
has its gain. Found a G.Plover nest there (#12) ad a phalarope
nest on the Beach Ridge (#6).
In the evening I checked the nests on the Drum Area as far
as the hammocks at tiny line IX X. Several Semi-jabs hatched
today.
6 July
Overcast with rain. Hardly any wind.
Made another census of P's plot. It rained softly but steadily
during the census. There was no marked difference from the
previous trip with the exception that all Redbacks had hatched
and had left the plot. Heard only one Redback, about 250 m
of the plot i Holmes Marsh. Found one more phalarope (#7)
nest with 4 eggs. There were only three small group of Pectorals;
all appeared to be males.
Tom found a nest of what he thought was a David but which
turned out to be a Semi-jab. While checking the nest, we found a
David's nest about 15 m away from the Semi-jab.
In the afternoon I joined Tom who he went to check lines
IVA, IVB and walked back home from there. Found a Pectoral
