Verbeck 1966. Journal 30 stretch I counted Dowitchers 4, Pectorals 12, Golden Plover 1, Black-bellied Plover 1, Red Phalarope 15 (one flock of 11 q included). In the evening Steve and I went to the weasel where we left behind this morning. I walked P's plot and put yellow stakes at some nests. All Redback nests were empty. Also checked Semi-pal nest S. of CRREL (#6). There were many Pectorals at the CRREL cabin (± 45 = flock). Got back home at 22:45. 4 July Wind from the NE and cloudy, clearing with sun around 11:00. Went in the morning to the Drinn Area to check Semi-pal nests and to get some more feeding observations. There has been little if any change. No eggs hatched yet, but there was one pair of Redbacks (nest unaccounted for) who acted as if they had young. Found a pile of 9 mouse traps about 100 m. N. of fire IX x X. Only two traps stuck out of the small wet sphagnum moss hummock, the others were overgrown. Could this have been a place where a jaguar nested some time ago and to which place be carried off food caught - traplines? Went to Barrow for the rest of the day. Had fun. 5 July. Got up early and biked over to The Britton Area ad the Village Bridge. Shorebird activity was poor to say the least. Breeding shorebirds - Semi-pals, Banded, Turnstone are all concentrated in the bluffs and hammocks E. W. of South Salt Lagoon. There are also some Redbacks ad a pair of G. Plovers. From there along the south shore of the lagoon, no birds, except
