Devick 1966 Journal 22 got to about halfway the FAA station and the Village Bridge the intermittent character of the rain changed into a steady shower accompanied by much wind. It was obvious that conditions would not prove. I got home at 16:15 with the water just reaching my skin or my back (the parka leaked along the seams and stitchings) and with soaked wet pants. While I am writing this, it still rains and the wind continues to be gusty. It is now 21:05. 24 June Fog in the morning and a strong SW wind. In the afternoon wind from the N, snow flurries and a bit of blue sky. Cold day. The Drum Area produced little data. The birds were not feeding and I saw very few of them, perhaps because of the bad weather. On my way back I flushed two Barnacle but could not find their nests. Put stakes near where I thought the nests would be. In the afternoon the three of us went to Elson lagoon. We joined the Weazel at Pitellas flat and with the wind in our backs we linked across Holmes Moss towards the lagoon, gathering feeding observations as we went. When we got to the Turnstone West we turned S. along the lagoon. By the time we started to go back to the Weazel it had begun to snow. We got home around 17:00 In the evening we went to the Whaling festival in Barnow. where I stayed till 01:00.
