June 5 At 21:00 I saw 3♂, 3♀ flying westward over the peninsula. Steve says he saw a couple of them yesterday.
9 June One male (?) Old Squaw flew over us as we stood on the shore west of Cavy. A few minutes later (22:00) a pair flew over heading N.
11 June Four Old Squaws flew over, heading north at 5:00:15. Later on we saw two large flocks - 50 or more birds and we heard several more but did not see them because of the fog.
13 June Several pairs of Old Squaw (?) swam on the puddles while are now abundantly available after yesterday's melt and today.
16 June Saw a string of some 40 birds heading north at 21:30. The laton, some 15 birds flew close over our heads at break-neck speed, making much noise with their wings as they skimmed over and under some telephone wires.
21 June Heard and saw a single male calling from Wohlschlag Slough at 06:30
8 July Saw a group of 6 males, 3 females on Nunivak Slough S. of Barrow.
A flight of 11♂'s over the Drama Area this evening
9 July A flight of 35 birds over Imnikpuk at 17:00 going N.
13 July A flight of 22♂ and 1♀ over Honey Bucket at 19:15.
20 July Paul de Benedictus and Tom Guster found a nest with seven young (+1 day old) in the Lake Eater Area.
27 July At Meade River, on a small pond I saw 22 adult ♂♀ and +40 small chicks, which were quite actively diving for food. There were also 1♀ Spectacled Eider, 2 Red-throated Loon, 1 Arctic Loon
