July 8
vegetation as follows - Carex sp., Salt grass,

a kind of bunch grass, Bromus mollis, and
Rumex. 10 or 15 traps were set out on the
east facing canyon hillside among
vegetation as follows: Bromus sp, Baccharis,
Chus, Pteris aquilina, sword fern and
blackberry & thimble berry.
July 9 - a.m. - Trap line was inspected at 6:00 a.m..
and traps rebaited: Catch was as
follows: 4 Sorex trowbridgii (caught
seemingly at random along the line, one
caught on hillside) 2 Microtus californicus
(one caught in Salt grass near tide
level, the other on cool ground beneath
Carex). 1 Reithrodontomys megalotis
(caught in Salt grass at high tide level).
1 Sorex waprans was caught beneath
Carex in excavated mole runk at
11:30 a.m.. After catch was skinned
event over to N facing sidehill
slope about 400 yds SW of Ranch house
to look for Aplodontia burrows
& sign. 6 traps were set here
in thick brush of Baccharis, Sword
fern, poison oak, thimble berry,
blackberry, etc and then Hendrickson
who accompanied me returned to camp.
