Chatting 1941 Itinerary Jan 10 5 mi. NW Borrego P.O., 700 ft. San Diego Co., Calif. by moonlight at 9:30 pm and 10 Dipodomys merriami were taken. Jan. 11 a.m.. Traps were picked up and 6 more Dipodomys merriami were taken. Six p.m. 70 mouse traps and 5 rat traps were set out on rocky hillside. Creosote bush Encelia and Granularia compose bulk of vegetation growing among rocks. 8 gopher sets were made along the base of the hills in fresh workings. Jan 12. a.m. Traps were picked up. Catch consisted of 7 Thomomys, 1 Neotoma lepida, 1 Perognathus penicillatus and 4 Peromyscus (2 crinitis taken in rocks). Six p.m.. 50 traps were set out at 1/2 mi NE Borrego P.O., 500 ft. San Diego Co., Calif. in and around thickets of mesquite. Jan 13. a.m. Traps were picked up. 2 Neotoma albivola, 2 Perognathus penicillatus, 2 Peromyscus maniculatus and 2 Dipodomys merriami . Catch was obtained during day and in p.m. 70 mouse traps and 6 rat traps were set out in mesquite thickets on slightly drier ground than last night. Jan 14 a.m. Trap line was picked up.
