especially near the stream which flows thru it. The ground in this region is still moist. Several meadows are also present thru the timber in the lower spots and these are very wet and of a bog-like character. 5:00 P.M. July 11 - Before going out to set traps a reptile bag containing a garter snake captured 1 mi. E Hood River Hood River Co., Oregon was opened with intentions of preserving the specimen which had been kept alive due to truck breakdown and absence of preservative. The bag contained not only the original garter snake but 15 young snakes, which were all alive and vigorous. Few of them had partially shed skins. The snakes were returned to the reptile bag and left alive.
5:15 P.M. went down to stream 1 mi. N Twin Buttes camp in company with Wm Longhurst and set 40 globester traps and 25 mouse traps in 25yd radius near the stream in heavy undergrowth and under fallen logs.
