Atkin J.E. 1939 Itinerary Brooks Meadow, Hood River Co., Oregon July 5 (cnt'd) Set out 85 Museum Special traps about 8 yds apart and 5 gopher sets. Traps were set in grass and along edges of fallen logs at the edge of the timber. - Brooks Meadow is an open clearing in the timber about 3/4 mi. in diameter. The meadow is completely covered with vegetation which includes blue grass, sedge (Carex), camas, lupine and several wild flower species. The ground has only a slight slope and the soil is moist light loam. The forest at the edges of the meadow is composed of Douglas fir, white fir and Western Larch. Some brush is present also and consists mainly of service berry. The forest floor is well covered with many small herbaceous plants and numerous young trees. Considerable fallen timber is present but there is no evidence of any recent burning. July 6 - A.M. - Picked up trap line - Results - 6 Peromyscus 5♀ 1♂ 2 Thomomys monticola 3 & Sorex vagrans
