Columbia R. at mouth of Deschutes R. Wasco Co. Oregon
July 1 (cont'd)
The animal apparently had been killed by
a passing automobile earlier in the
morning (June 30). Further along the road
6 mi. from Prineville P.O. on highway 27
skulls of 3 coyotes were taken from
the skeletons which were hanging
along the fence NE of the roadside. (1:00 P.M.)
Skulls & skeletons were well dried; date
of death of animals was uncertain.
From Prineville highway 27 was followed
to Redmond. From Redmond highway
97 was followed to Biggs at the
junction of 97 and highway 30. 4 mi.
SSE Opal city elev. 2750 ft. at 2:10 P.M.
Jefferson Co. Oregon a fence lizard was
caught in the rocks along the rim of
the Crooked river canyon. - From Biggs
on highway 30 the party turned West and
followed down the highway to the
mouth of the Deschutes River where
camp was set up about 7:30 P.M.- Later
43 mouse traps were set out at 15 yd.
intervals on the west side of the Deschutes
river from a point 70 yds from the
river bank in SW direction up the
hillside. Total distance of line about
3/4 mi.. Traps were set in sandy
