Chalting J.E. 1939 Itinerary June 30 (cont'd) Crocket R. at mouth of Bear Cr. Crook Co. Oregon a large draw ½ mi. south of junction of Crocket R. & Bear Creek. Traps were set mainly along the edges of the dry wash bed and up on the hillside. Country is covered with many small rocks with considerable outcrops of lava rock. Sagebrush and western juniper and a form of bunch grass (sparse) form the main vegetation. Only 8 of the traps were sprung - 5 containing mice. Results - 3 Perognathus parvus (2♀ 1♂) 1 Peromyscus maniculatus ♀ 1 Peromyscus truei ♂ (juvenile) Lloyd Tevis, setting 55 traps in the bottom of the valley caught 29 mice the same night. This figure compared with 5 in 75 may indicate that mice are more abundant in the lower parts of the valley. July 1 Columbia R. 300 ft. at mouth of Deschutes R. Wasco Co.
