Chatin 1939 Itinerary Crooked R. at Bear Cr. mouth Crook Co. Oregon. June 24 (cont'd) After arriving and setting up camp a line of 45 traps was set in N-S direction 4 mi. west of Bear Creek bridge. Trap line followed to the west side of a small gulley and then out on top of the small lava plateau SW of Bear Creek Bridge. 5 traps were also set along the South side of the road EW about 25 yards from Bear Creek. 4 of the 5 traps at the roadside were effective - catching 1 Dipodomys ordii, 2 Peromyscus maniculatus + 1 Perognathus parvus. 12 mice were caught in the other line; 8 Peromyscus maniculatus + 4 Perognathus parvus. Total traps set - 50 toticatch 16 Results. Peromyscus maniculatus 10 (5♂ 5♀) Perognathus parvus 5 (2♂ 3♀) Dipodomys ordii 1♀ 1♀ Myotis sp(?) was shot 20 yds south of Bear Creek Bridge at 8:30 P.M. June 28. The present camp is located 20 yards south of Highway 27 and 70 yards west of Bear Creek bridge near the junction of Bear Creek and Crooked River. The flats in the canyon bottom are covered with fine dry sand. Vegetation includes sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata) which is the dominant plant type. Juniperus occidentalis also is fairly
