Chattin J. 1940 Itinerary Aug 12 (cont'd) 2 1/2 mi. SE Chinook, 10 ft., Pacific Co., Wash. trowbridgii; 1 Neurotrichus (caught in heavy stand of Xerophyllum above surface of ground), 1 Microtus oregoni, 1 Lepus, 1 Eutamias, - 1 Mustela was caught in steel set. [In last 3 days this same trap has caught] 1 Eutamias townsendii, 1 lepus washingtonii (1 Neotoma cinerea), Mouse traps set at 4 mi. NW Chinook, 10 ft., were taken up. They contained 1 young Lepus, 1 Microtus oregoni, 1 young Microtus townsendii, and 2 Sorex vagrans. Steel set in Mustela trail contained a young striped skunk which was not saved. Rain or light drizzle fell during last night but after 9 a.m. the day was clear and warm. p.m. - At 2 1/2 mi. SE Chinook, 10 ft., - 15 more small mouse traps were set in under-ground runs beneath heavy stand of Carex sp.? - Traps in old trap line were inspected, rebaited, and reset. They contained 1 Sorex obscurus, 2 Sorex trowbridgii and 3 Neurotrichus (all Sorex and Neuro-trichus were caught in underground runs beneath heavy cover of sedges. Steel traps were scented with scent glands of weasel. 1 more steel trap was set in Hplodontia burrow; - Aug 13 a.m. Traps inspected and reset after
