Itinerary
July 29 (cont'd)
3 1/2 mi. E & 5 mi. N Yacolt, Clark Co., Washington
a line of 40 traps was set along cut
bank of road. Holes and trails were
fairly numerous. The trap line was set
after rain had stopped falling. Road along
which it was set runs thru a large stand
of virgin timber of Douglas fir 2-6 ft. in
diametral base. Undercover is composed
almost exclusively of vine maple with
carpet of moss and Oxalis 2-4 in. high
covering the ground.
July 30
a.m. Trap line inspected and 4 Peromyscus
and 1 Phenacomys were caught. Trapline
near camp contained nothing. Both lines
were left out. Weather now appears to
be clearing & sun shines for short
intervals thru clouds which have raised
considerably. At 8:18 p.m. shot 2 Myotis
flying 40-50 ft. high around edges of tops
of Douglas fir
July 31
a.m. Rain fell during part of last night.
Trap lines both taken up. They contained
2 Peromyscus, 1 Zapus, 1 Phenacomys (caught
in trap set under a board). 1 Microtus
and another microtine were also caught.
At 8:10 p.m. a Myotis was shot flying about
in tops of Douglas fir 40-50 ft. above
ground. 28 small mouse traps baited
