Chattin 1946 Itinerary 200 ft. Berkeley, Alameda Co. California Jan. 20. - 1♀ and 2♂ Thomomys bottae albatos, taken alive from loose light sandy loam soil along the bank of a drainage canal at -180 ft. 1½ mi. W Niland, Imperial Co. Calif., have been transferred to larger cages and fed. All 3 were 1st given rolled oats after about 36 hrs of "fasting". Oats were taken readily, the animals coming out of cotton "nests" in presence of observer to obtain food. Later other food consisting of walnuts, split peas, celery, rolled oats, barley, and potato was put into the cages. Jan 23 - 3♀. albatos transferred into a 3 celled cage [illegible] of wood (-) and 1/4" mesh wire (--), the large ♂ being put into the center cage. 1 adult ♀ Thomomys bottae bottae taken Nov 25 (?) 1939 by Alton Hifon below East Shore (101) just north of county line in Contra Costa Co. has also been moved here (2/13 L. SB.) after being cared for by S. B. Benson for the past month. Previous
