Chattin 1940 Itinerary - 180 ft. 1 1/2 mi. W Finland, Imperial C. Calif. Jan 18 (contd) - P.M. - 9 gophers caught in sets. 2 caught by front foot still alive and vigorous as were caged. - Moved several traps further along canal bank. 1 Rana sp? caught in sand Jan 19 - Picked up gopher sets. 1 more live gopher taken as well as 5 others. Of 15 gophers caught only 2 are so - (1 skin + one alive yet) All 7's seem to be adults but contained no embryos. - Of 7 ♀'s caught at 150 ft. 2 mi SW Potholes - 3 contained embryos at fairly early stages of development. P.M. - Packed car and started for Berkeley at 2:00 P.M. Jan 20 - Arrived in Berkeley at 4:00 A.M. P.M. - 3 gophers still alive. These transferred to larger cages and fed.
