Chattin J. 1940 Itinerary Jan 4 - (cont.) 250 ft., 5mi. S. Palo Verde Imperial Co. Cal. is found also on the higher land away from the river floodplain. Soil in the washes is gravelly or coarse sand grading into rough rocky land on higher spots between dry washes.. 35 small mouse traps were set about 10 yds. apart in fairly loose sand on a small knoll. 2 no 1 steel sets were also set in the mouths of 2 burrows in a mesquite thicket. 2 real traps were set inside the house. Jan 5 - A.M.- In the 35 mouse traps were caught 2 Dipodomys (1 ̻ 1 Ϸ), 3 Peromyscus(1̻2Ϸ)5 Reithrodontmys (2̻ 3Ϸ), 1 Ϸ Mus musculus 4 Perognathus (2̻ 2Ϸ) 1 ̻ Neotoma was caught a steel trap. PM - Longhurst and I drove back up towards Palo Verdi 3 1/2 mi S. Palo Verde I shot a Ϸ Green-winged teal on a small shallow 'lake'. 4 mi S Palo Verde - I shot a ̻
