July 10 Twin Buttes, 4300ft, 2 1/2 mi. SW Steamboat Htn, Skamania Co., Wash.
4:30 P.M. - in open clearing surrounded
by willows and thick brush many
young toads were mated. Clearing
covered with course grass about 4in.
high growing in soil covered in
most places with 1-3 in. of water.
Sail and grass form sort of a marsh
or bog. All toads collected here were
young, with exception of 2 or 3 adults.
Frogs were also present but in fewer
numbers. 1 Hyla regilla was taken in the
same locality.
