1 mi. SE Sawtooth Mtn., 4200 ft. Shoshoneia Co. Wash.
July 13 (12:30 P.M.) - Shot jika as it came out upon top of a large rock. Animal called several times before it was visible to observer and then came out into open.- Rock slide where animals are found composed of large angular boulders from 1-5 ft. in diameter. Rock slide interspersed in spots with clumps of willow (sp?). Feces noted in localized spots were about size of BB shot. Small stores of dried grass were noted on 2 occasions in the rocks. - Voice of jika is peculiar high pitched reedy squeak given singly at intervals. Answering (?) notes are given by neighboring individuals.
