J. Chatton Erithizon epixanthum Columbia R. 300 ft, 2 mi. WSW Rufus, Sherman Co., Oregon July 4 - Picked up cranium (lower jaws could not be found) of young porcine in rocky slope beneath canyon rimrock. Twin Buttes R.S. 3900 ft, 3 mi. WSW Steamboat Mtn, Sherman Co., Wash. July 12 (5:45 P.M.) - Shot large E. epixanthum on large fallen log partially covered with branches of surrounding trees. Animal remained motionless except for turning head slightly. Shot with .410 and 12ch. at 12-15 ft. Animal weighed by offset balance using shotgun shells for weights. These were weighed on small scales and total x 3 giving actual weight animal. <10in> <30 in> -> wts animal
