July 7 Brooks Meadow 4300 ft. 9 mi. ENE Mt. Hood, Hood River Co., Oregon.
1? Scapanus orereus caught in mole trap set in run in short grass. Soil moist and fairly loose loam. Mole alive when taken from trap. When held by tail and put on ground the animal immediately began to dig into ground. Nose and fore feet used in digging. Nose marked with grey white spot about 1/2 in wide & 3/4 in long.
