Oct 18 Albrook Air Force Base Canal zone address. I suggest a phone call - its cheap. (try military radio mars if possible) Contacts in the canal zone are invaluable. I recommend speaking Spanish to every Latin, even if he speaks English. This surprises them & they love it. Please Corps contacts are also invaluable. They know many of the "little things" that make all the difference (where to get what inexpensively, where to stay, who can help you in out of the way places, what families to visit, who to watch out for (very imp*)).
Oct 21 Taboga Island, Rep. de Panama. Since Peter Stutley was in Panama for rabies shots he & I w/ several other peace corps volunteers decided to go to Taboga Island. Since there was no doctors there, I gave Peter the shot. Met 2 men who were stationed there (they showed us some rooms on the far side of the island. In- stead of going around the island by boat which I recommend) we walked through the forest down very steep slippery hills. Getting back up the hills was difficult & I don't suggest it. & the tide had been low we could have
