E.Careless 1967 Journal 68 Yaviza, Darien Prov., Rep de Panama Sept 30th parrots, orange chinied parakeets, Redford parroted or meali parrot. Capped heron. Arrived just before dinner feel too tired to eat so went directly to bed. Forgot to mention #616 #617 As we were about to go swimming off the pirogua these two little creatures decided to swim too. Peter + I chased them in the boat & they were killed with the paddle. We changed swimming holes. #618 had in its stomach sardines 1 large (56mm) 3 small (40m) shrimp, parts of other fish. It was shot from boat. October 1 #619 brought by a little hunter. #620 also by a little hunter. #621 Nice a surprise because the kids said they rarely see them this time of year. The #623 and #624 were coyle. In front of town. Went to El Real for buckets for shipping, glycerine for the snake skin, gasoline. The items cannot be purchased there. We have a friend there who had the above. We were up river when two gas boats came so we ran out. Job people (4) back from El Real so the ride was longer & no usual. Saw a flock of paddle duckos (?) by El Real - we went in to get a 221
