September'11 what I would find. The door opened slowly

By the
end of the afternoon I had heard of the
two murders next door last week (they
heard got it with a machete) and 5 various others.
choppings. But gringos are safe sleep, my
friend Pitul. Stay with a Panamanian
family next door to Pitul's house. I am
glad by the way that it is dark in their
house at dinner time because it may
take me to few day to get used to the food.
The charge is $25 a meal - lots of nice, some
meat. At night one sleeps under a
mosquito net to keep the bats away.
Warm, no rain, sunset, music trickle
at night & lots of noise.
September12 Everyone up @ 6.30 There are 43 little
chickens living in the kitchen. It's amazing
what one can get used to. Went down river
to El Real (Mr. with motor.) Saw the
following along the shores: tropic
(cormorants, common egret, little blue heron,
Snowy egrets, white necked heron, great
blue head?), black & turkey vultures ,
green heron, wood side hawks (Buteo meginothia),
white necked crake, yellow crowned night heron,
