C Carolen 1967 Journal 29 Finca Jemeney, Guanacaste Prov. Costa Rica August 18 sleep up. (slight degree) Didn't year oong. The two woodpeckers #168 + 170 shot from same tree. Large dead (but many small branches) tree #168 at 8:05 x 9:30 PM The parrot also was shot from this tree at 9 AM The reason for this tree's being popular is that I got to dizzy walking any further. I'm feeling better today though. The 171 was in a leaf tree, guy from branch to branch very fast! dove hunting of 5 Barn Swols 4 Streech, 1 Virginia Opeaen. [illegible] The partridges were plentiful Collected one barn. They are hard to kill. I shot it worth. those shells had made here and it wasn't dead when I found it. The mouse traps are around a rocky area tonight. Set only 10 - Rain light August 19 Feeling better at last. No mice in the traps. Can't understand why I haven't caught any. We went to the river today. Mercedes & I hunted together today for the first time. Shot #173 from a tall limb at 60 feet up. He was about 10 feet from the river. He was making no noise and his neck was tucked in and looked very short. The 174
