C. Carvelin 1967 Journal 23 Tunco Jerninez, Guanacaste Prov, Costa Rica August 11 shot on the road to the cabin he was slow was making little short runs along the dirt & rocks! By this time I could think of nothing but getting back to the house. A pity because there are many birds here. Skinned w the afternoon. Felt a little tilly. Set 15 mouse traps & was nearly made a skeleton & by the mosquitoes. Saw 3 turkey vultures directly over head while setting traps. Sleep bird. Parrots in flocks were frequent sounds or sights. So were Kiskadees. It rained for about 1/2 hour. The sun set was beautiful. Still dizzy & slightly weak in the knees. Not hungry & that is unusual. Saw no iguanas or tree boas today. Collected a Bufo Marinus on the clod way outside dining room there are 2 or 3 here every night. The dining room has a light. August 12. A short rain during the night - and only one mouse. The area ahead where I set the traps could be the reason that I'm not certain. I saw runaways & set traps on them. Got a late start because I had to clean the shot gun. Hunted the same area as yesterday except when further & closer to the river. Shot a parrot. But he wasn't quite dead
