C. Ceeley 1967 Journal 20 August 9 15mi's Cariblanco, Heredia Prov., Costa Rica drivers here are amazing!!! We chose back to San Jose to get the Cotton & MVZ tags, Customs did a few hours hassle & we had to return early the next day for the package. They wanted us & I to pay duty however we persuaded them not to charge us more than $35? The air mail took days. The road to Cariblanco was muddy & full of holes best on each side it had perhaps the heaviest forest around. Much of the trees had been cut for as far as we could see on the way to San Jose. Volcano Poas caught us in one of his detches but 4 wheel drive got closer. There was much less fog than there usually is there. One could see the plateau. It was cool enough for a sweater. August 10. Left the Hotel Baston early for customs, bought a suntan case for bride, & left for Alajuela to get to Volcano at noon us 4 1/2 hours which includes lunch. (Now supposed to be excellent time). We took flight (Pan American). The area around Volcano is amazing -- green, green, green. It's quiet, has lots of birds, has colorful sky & is
