August 4 (p.m.)
Lami's Cariblanco, Heredia Prov. Costa Rica
On the way back to the camper the daily prolonged rain started & the birds hid from the rain (& me). During the day while I was skinning I heard little sheeps. I went to check our nets & saw #79 looks as if she fell to the ground. When she came out from under the leaves I shot her. Very often one sees two or three birds flying about very rapidly, darting here & there - seldom landing. Just three traps by the truck but the rain snapped them all while I was skinning the bat. It rained as usual long & hard. All three traps had shifted from their original position. The measurements on the bat are forearm & the . During the night (1:30 A.M.) we checked the net (empty) & we saw no snakes. The next morning then we have planned to awaken earlier.
August 5 The net was down & had no bats. The fog was typical & fine in the morning. We moved the net to an tree with plants on both sides. Then down the hill to hunt.
