middle fork of Sacuume River, Sacramento
Co., Calif. elev. ~4400' - 4500'
wide (12-15') & rather deep (up to 4') in
some places. Lot of large boulders &
bank in some places is sloping
rock w/ no vegetation. Number of
people ard. so walked back. Just
below bridge (on right hand side if
facing S) is small tributary.
Walked up away. is shallow, narrow.
One frog spotted but got away (perhaps
we were too tired?). Not sure if was
R. boylei or R. muscosa. Stream seems to
be in "steps" w/ relatively open
areas w/ gentle banks, some grass &
smallish rocks & areas of larger
rocks &/or fallen logs and thick
vegetation growth. Is particular
plant which haven't seen before
(or something)
took sample for later identification:
Walked perhaps a 1/4 mi or less upstream.
Several were heard to jump into H2O
