Liesta Lake, Yosemite Nat'l Park, Tuolumme
Co, Calif. elev ~8000 ft.
July 22 (cont).
2 of the 3 we saw as well as a dead
tadpole (see sp accs R. muscosa)
habitat - see journal July 16 (p.9)
topo map ref - see journal July 16 (p8)
From here we drove down
to the Crane Flat ranger station.
~ .2 mi (or less) beyond Sequoia (r)
Auto Nature Trail we pulled off
road and ate supper ~ 6:30-7:30 P.M.
Made camp in fairly open grove
of [illegible] (Jeffrey ?) pine. Slept
til ~ 8:00 A.M. next day. Am wondering
now about why we saw so few
animals at Liesta Lake compared
with the last afternoon we were
there. T°(air) was cooler.
Could it be temp. effect? Or
are they that highly diurnal?
Still lot of tadpoles seen.
