trip to Yosemite Nat'l Park, Tuolumne Co., Calif.
July 15--(cont)
H2O supply; we headed back for Tuolumne
Meadows which is back on rte 120.
On our way we stopped at Siesta Lake, one
of the places Sue Turner told me they could
be found. Since it's just off the road &
we didn't want to look conspicuous we just
took a couple of plastic bags, our only intention
being to look and. Walked around the lake
counter clockwise and lake, saw a few
lady poles ? on E (?) & sunniest edge
of lake scued ~ 10 indiv off bank
w/in ~ 5 min. Graham caught 2 by
hand - were Rana muscosa (as expected)
Noted that venter much more fully covered
w yellow than R. boylei. From there
went up thru Tuolumne Meadows , past the
T.M. High Sierra Camp to the Dana Fork
of the Tuolumne River where caught two.
Had begun sprinkling by this time.
Headed back towards Tuol. Mdwos. Drove
back to ranger station near main campgl.
Ate in car for was heavily raining .
By time had finished, rain had stopped.
After changing clothes we went ~ 300 yds
& from ranger station & took left
outdirt road which has parking lot on
