ae, Susan M. 1972 Journal Suolunne Co., Calif. around. to get feel for habitat. Lot of aquatic vegetation. Good bullfrog population. Many tadpoles seen. Then took road from Mather to Evergreen Lodge. ~ .1 mi from Mather on right is Old Mather Road. # Follow for ~ . 5 mi to Mud Lake - most apt description - has started to dry up and H2O ~ 1-3 inches deep. Heavily overgrown, lot of cattails & huge bullfrog (Rana catesbiana) population. No Rana boyei seen but people who live there say they do have them so it needs more investigation when I have more time. Returned to the middle fork of Tuolumne ~4:30 P.M. - walked upstream again til ~6:30 P.M. Ate then went back again. Captured 1 Rana boyei and sighted several others which were unable to capture them. Mather-Birch & Mud Lake Thamnophis couchi (1) Celerius constrictor (1) Clemmys marmorata (1) Rana catesbiana (many)
