around. to get feel for habitat. Lot of
aquatic vegetation. Good bullfrog
population. Many tadpoles seen.
Then took road from Mather to Evergreen
Lodge. ~ .1 mi from Mather on right
is Old Mather Road. # Follow for ~
. 5 mi to Mud Lake - most apt
description - has started to dry up
and H2O ~ 1-3 inches deep. Heavily
overgrown, lot of cattails & huge
bullfrog (Rana catesbiana) population.
No Rana boyei seen but people who
live there say they do have them so
it needs more investigation when
I have more time.
Returned to the middle fork of Tuolumne
~4:30 P.M. - walked upstream again
til ~6:30 P.M. Ate then went back
again. Captured 1 Rana boyei and sighted
several others which were unable to capture
them.
