Sceloporus occidentalis
2
3030 Soda Canyon Rd, Nipa, Nipa Co., California
reach (cont): 27 witho I'm not sure. During this feeding had
moved over to rock R then onto log B - at
far end & from us. Then move back to log A
(mear rock) - orient flat against log. Looks
like may be ~90° to sun's rays. After
few seconds moved farther from us up A,
turned & came back down over the rock to
B . I had been poking out from under B
& onto log C . Was frightened into hollow by
sudden approach of B . It followed J into
hollow. Heard movement & could see tail of one
of them, but not know what happening.
It came out onto log C & moved to - where
~ 2 ft from me. Did 2-3 pushups. Move
forward, do 2-3 more. Turn head to look
(at us I guess). Move to end C, jump to end
log D (only few inches) - jump to end log E.
Did few pushups there; move away from us
of E. When reach bush 2, off log into base
of bush. Looked out from there. Move back
to log E & move farther away from us (could
no longer see). Got up to leave.
Area quite open. Looks like fire there.
Lot of burned logs a'nd. Bushes is , relatively
far apart. Lot of rock.
