Rana muscosa
1975
4 Sept Calif: Tuolumne Co, Lukens Lake, YNP eluv.
arrived at lake ~ 10 am (PDT), spotted
1 juvenile on piece of bark which I
caught. One other juvenile seen on muddy
area of bank but unable to catch.
It difficult to spot frogs here because
of nature of lake. Most shore
off overgrown to grass and lake
not shallow but drops off abruptly.
~6 inches.
5-6 ft.
One end of lake bordered by ndw- is bit
mucky & see. 1ge potholes (at least 4-5' deep;
and 3 ft diameter) near edge of lake. One
large indiv jumped into one of these & altho
I could see where he had gone, was unable
to reach him.
At opposite end of lake (where is a stream
outlet I think) are a # of large logs.
H2O very shallow there (~6 inches) and there
is at least an inch of silt on the bottom.
Grasses also grew along edge's in H2O there.
Saw 1 adult sitting in pool of ~2" H2O
among grasses; was able to catch.
