31 July California: Lassen Co., LVNP, Kings Ck Mdw, elev 7300'
started walking ck at picnic area but no luck 'til after crk crosses rd to lg mdw.
Sd frogs at far end of mdw. Most sitting among tall, dry grass. Hard to spot, except by movement. Several juveniles fd in dry-grass areas which still is some H2O in (a few inches but not mucky). Of adults captured - some jumped directly into crk. Often hid to catch once in H2O for current strong. Animal often go in but stay at side of bank ie. one case
but current made hard to get out and him (but did).
In areas where current not strong was little problem - after jumped in & returned immediately to where jumped ie.

Occasionally some individuals did not head for ck but went away tow'ds moist mdw.
Hear 2 -> calling in flooded area of mdw. Not sure if they were cascadae or not since unable to locate mdw. (was 5:15 pm PDT). One would start & initiate calling by other - call together & then 2nd to start calling would stop 1st. Tried to approach one
