Rona baylei 14 2, S.M. 1974 California: Trinity Co., Mill Ck where crosses rte 299. August saw 1 animal sitting on rock in middle of stream which was fairly fast moving. Unable to catch. No other frogs seen. California: Trinity Co., Philpot Ck below bridge near Philpot cmpgd elev 2400' August worked downstream from where worked last year. Frogs seem fairly abundant since only went few hundred yards & was able to get 10. Animals not seem to be very wary. (~12n-1pm PDT) California: Trinity Co., Philpot Ck above Philpot cmpgd elev ~2400' After going downstream, went to cmpgd & worked upstream from edge of cmpgd. Frogs much rarer but also abundant. Caught 5 before stopped by rattlesnake (Cer Crotalus viridis). Did catch 2 more on way back to camp (1-2:30 pm PDT) California: Trinity Co., unnamed tributary into Philpot Ck at Philpot cmpgd. elev ~2400' is a partially dry tributary which flows into Philpot Ck at cmpgd. Late afternoon (~4-5 pm PDT) as was getting overcast, able to get 10 frogs from this tributary in which they also seem abundant.
