e, Susan M. 1973 8 Rana boylei sruke W of bench mark 3624' or east of Wells Ranch on road #18 N07(or 6N44 thru Cedar Camp) in Mendocino Nat'l Forest, Colusa Co., Calif. under H2O - slow - use hind feet in sort of walking motion til nose & eyes just above H2O. Caught. Miller Creek, Miller Creek Campgd, Mendocino Nat'l Forest, Colusa Co., Calif. elev 1625' ~5:30-6:00 PM (PDT). Stopped in campgd for night w intention of exploring the creek in the morning. Went down to made in creek & release. sited 7 R. boylei in ~50' of stream. Also think found 2 egg masses of R. boylei - one group hatching - one looks like almost ready to hatch. Caught 2 individuals - plan to look more extensively tomorrow eggs on east bank - ~6 inches from shore (1 mass) & the other - 1 inch from shore.
