River over unmarked creek ~ 100 ft - from where enters Elz River . ~ 100 yds upstream caught medium size individual after had walked ~ 300 yds upstream & came back. Stream upstream relatively rapid & steep do not continue further. Two or one foot damaged. creek W of benchmark 3624 or east of Wells Ranch on road #18 No 7-63 in Mendozino Natile Forest Calyca calaya, elev ~ 3600 ft. May 9 ~ 12 P.M. (PDT) found small creek which not on topo map. Think flows into Little Story Creek (on road past Cedar Camp). Walked ~ 500 yds inland, caught one medium size individual. Several hundred feet further upstream was getting much steeper, much more rapid. Scared several times off bank. One scared off back; waited several minutes. Saw him swim back to my side of shore.
